Why you should see this

Victor Hugo’s original book is widely considered to be one of thegreat masterpieces of literature. The story of oppressed anddeprived people struggling to overcome the pressures of theirsociety is inspirational. Set during the period of the Frenchmonarchy’s restoration after Napoleon I, it follows the story of acriminal attempting to reform and those around him. The charactersnot only struggle against their environment but also their ownpersonal natures and inclinations.

This is not a tale where everyone, even the main characters, isnecessarily nice in the conventional sense.  It is about realliving and breathing people and this musical works all thebetter for that.
