Wicked The Musical

Wicked The Musical is a multi awardwinning spin on good and bad witches;
Where can I see it?

The location for this wonderful show is the Apollo VictoriaTheatre in Wilton Road in central London’s Victoria.

This magnificent 1930s Art Deco building started life as a cinemabut is now a top-notch and very comfortable theatre, convenientlylocated for all forms of public transport.

What is it about?

This show has been adapted from the book Wicked – The Life andTimes of the Wicked Witch of the West, written in 1995 as a prequelto the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
It tells the story of the unlikely friendship between two studentwitches. One, Glinda, is beautiful and popular while the otherElphaba has green skin and finds it difficult to fit in.
In the course of their studies at Shiz University, they meet theWizard himself and their initially close relationship changesdramatically.

While everyone knows that Glinda goes on to become the Good Witch,and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West, their characters are abit more complex than this, as is seen as their experiences andadventures in Oz play out.

The spellbinding and award winning musicalversion of the story, with score and lyrics by Stephen Schwartzmoved to London from Broadway in 2006 and has been captivatingaudiences ever since.

When?

Performances are held:

  • Monday  to Saturday at 7.30pm;
  • Wednesday & Saturday matinées at 2.30pm.

The show lasts for around 2 hours 45 minutes and doors open 1hour before curtain up.

The show combines spectacular sets and scenery with amazingmagical tricks, flying sequences and special effects to create atruly breath taking experience, made all the more enjoyable by theincredible make up and costumes.

Linking into the original Wizard of Oz storyline, this storylineshows that not everything is as straightforward as you may at firstimagine and that there may be murky events in anyone’s past nomatter how good they may now appear.
